recently read of a study of ninety top leaders in a variety of fields. The goal of the study was to determine just what it is that sets leaders apart. Based on the interviews, they discovered that those who rise to the top of their professions possess the never-ending capacity to develop and improve their skills. In other words, top leaders are perpetual learners. They are always trying to develop and improve. The key word is “develop”.
Develop, according to Webster’s dictionary, is to grow or cause to grow and become more mature, advanced or elaborate. Common synonyms for develop are expand and evolve. Spiritually, our Stewardship needs to match Webster’s definition. God wants us to grow. He wants us to expand and to evolve to be more like Him. He wants us to enter or join activities that cause us to grow. He wants us to wean us from spiritual milk and grow us to spiritual meat (I Corinthians 3:2).
God has a plan. He has a plan for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11). If we submit to Him and accept His guidance, He will equip us and prepare us to navigate His plan for us. Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-13)and develop a multi-dimensional faithfulness. Grow into God’s plan for you as Moses, Abraham, David and countless other saints did by following Him day-by-day.
